Hello there! My name is Isabel Oakley, though everyone calls me “Abbie.” I am from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am a student at University of Oregon, and am almost done with my degree! I majored in International Studies and Religious Studies, focusing on Conflict Resolution. I have lived on and off between the United States and Mexico since I was a little kid. So, I speak Spanish and certainly know what it feels like to be the black sheep! I’m really looking forward to hearing different voices and seeing what I learn in this course. There is so much going on in the world these days, so I am excited about the idea of helping others cope with the huge changes happening all around us. I am passionate about the idea of putting power behind indigenous voices, and letting them be the guides for how we can help their community.
